JOAQUÍN M. CAMPOS received B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Granada. He is full Professor in Medicinal and Organic Chemistry. He worked with Professor Ganellin, co-inventor of cimetidine (Tagamet®), at UCL (University College London). His research interests include novel seven-membered compounds with anticancer activity, the effects of anticancer agents on signal transduction pathways and K+-channel blockers. He has been involved, for the most part as a responsible researcher in 18 research projects, and 3 research contracts with private companies. Currently, he advises the University of São Paulo (Brazil) on anticancer and anti-Alzheimer drugs. He was awarded the 2010 Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Granada. On March 17, 2016, he received the award from the Social Council of the University of Granada. He is Regional Editor in Europe for the journal Current Medicinal Chemistry, which is a leading journal in the field of Medicinal Chemistry.
