Dr. Chao Qin is an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Crop Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). He received his B.S. degree from Qingdao Agricultural University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Institute of Crop Sciences, CAAS. His research focuses on the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying soybean flowering time, plant architecture, shade responses, and yield-related traits, with particular emphasis on the identification and utilization of key genes for soybean genetic improvement. His representative studies include the characterization of PH13 in improving soybean shade-adaptive traits and yield under high-density planting, published in Nature Communications, and the discovery of GmEID1-mediated light signaling in the regulation of flowering time and yield, published in PNAS. He has led research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including a General Program and a Young Scientists Fund project. He currently serves as a Young Editorial Board Member of New Crops and has received awards including the Excellent Postdoctoral Fellow of CAAS.
