Gonzalo Andrés López, recipient of the 2004 National Humanities Prize (Spanish Royal Academy of Doctors), is an Associate Professor of Human Geography at the University of Burgos and is the Principal Investigator in the "Geographic Studies and Territorial Analysis" (GEOTER) research group. His research focuses on studies of urban history, history and industrial heritage, the transformations and urbanisation processes of medium-sized cities, and the analysis of the structure of urban areas. He also integrates geographic information systems (GISs) into territorial analysis and the study of cities and has worked on the integration of multimedia tools, video mapping, and virtual reality/augmented reality applied to education. He has a wide experience in knowledge transfer and training for adults in these subjects. He is the author of more than 100 publications and about 50 conference papers related to these topics. He has developed (mostly as the main researcher) 40 projects and research contracts with enterprises (26 as the main researcher). He also has been the scientific curator of nine exhibitions (with more than one million visitors), boosting the use of new technologies applied to the transfer of content related to heritage. The main goal of these efforts was to disseminate the cultural value of the humanities. He is a member of different research associations, serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals and acts as an expert for the National Research Agency (AEI).
