Grégoire Mariéthoz received his M.S., MAS, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Neuchâtel, Neuchâtel, Switzerland, in 2003, 2006, and 2009, respectively, all in geostatistical modeling and groundwater flow. From 2009 to 2010, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA, and from 2010 to 2014, he was a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He is known for his contributions to the field of geosciences and computational modeling. Since 2014, he has been a Professor at the Institute of Earth Surface Dynamics, University of Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland, where he is leading the Geostatistical Algorithms and Image Analysis Research Group—GAIA Laboratory. His research encompasses diverse subjects, such as geological and hydrogeological modeling, subsurface characterization, and uncertainty quantification in environmental sciences. He has developed innovative methods incorporating geostatistics, including approaches based on training images, as well as image analysis, machine learning, and inverse problems. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Computers and Geosciences and the Director of the Institute of Earth Surface Dynamics, University of Lausanne. He received several international prizes for his works on geostatistical methods, including the Vistelius Research Award, and he was designated Distinguished Lecturer of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences.
