In 1990, Prof. Dr. Youhe Gao received his MD from Peking Union Medical College. In 1997, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. From 1997 to 2001, he was a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer at Harvard Medical School. Since 2001, he has been appointed as a distinguished professor of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and a professor of the Department of Pathophysiology, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences. In December 2014, he was appointed as a professor at the School of Life Sciences, Beijing Normal University. He has won the title of National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Supervisor, the National Outstanding Youth Fund, and the National Candidate of the New Century Hundred Thousand Talents. He is the founding editor-in-chief of "Urine" magazine, a director of the Proteomics Branch of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, etc. He suggested launching the Urine Proteome Action Plan in the International Human Proteome Organization and served as its first chairman.
