Dr. Roilides is currently a Professor of Pediatrics of Infectious Diseases at the Aristotle University School of Medicine at Hippokration General Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece. He received his medical and doctor of philosophy degrees from the University of Athens in Greece, and worked for seven years at the National Institutes of Health (National Child Health and Cancer Institutes) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Since 1993, he has been a faculty member of the Aristotle University School of Medicine. He currently directs the research laboratory as well as the Division of Infectious Diseases of the 3rd Department of Pediatrics and he is chair of the Pediatric Faculty of the School of Medicine. In addition, he is the Director of the Basic and Translational Research Unit of the Special Unit for Biomedical Research and Education at the Aristotle University School of Medicine. His research interests focus on serious infections in children such as fungal infections and multi-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. He serves on the editorial boards of several international biomedical journals. He has contributed as a coordinator or as a partner in several multicenter and multinational studies.
