BACKGROUND: Prolonged sitting and poor posture can contribute to musculoskeletal pain and have a negative effect on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among young adults. Any prolonged posture leads to static loading of soft tissues and causes discomfort. Seated posture leads to inactivity causing an accumulation of metabolites, accelerating disk degeneration and musculoskeletal pain. Regular exercise has major contributions to the prevention and treatment of some health problems such as musculoskeletal disorders. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess the impact of online posture exercises on musculoskeletal pain and health related quality of life among university students receiving distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: This randomized controlled trial involved 72 students divided into intervention (n= 35) and control (n= 37) groups. The intervention group followed an 8-week online stretching and posture exercise program. Baseline and 8-week results were measured using the SF-36 QoL Questionnaire and Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ). RESULTS: Students spent an average of 5.4 ± 2.5 hours daily at computers. While there was no difference between the scores of any region in the CMDQ in the control group, there was a decrease in the neck, right shoulder, left shoulder, waist, left upper leg, right lower leg, and left lower leg discomfort scores in the intervention group (p< 0.05). There was a significant difference between the intervention and control groups in the total score of SF-36 and the sub-dimensions of vitality and mental health (p< 0.05). CONCLUSION: The online posture exercise program led to notable reductions in musculoskeletal pain and improvements in QoL among university students. Examining the effectiveness of online exercise programs in different age groups is important for health benefits during quarantines.

Background/Objectives: Sleep disorders and depressive symptoms are common among college students and can negatively impact quality of life. Physical activity is recommended as a non-pharmacological approach to support sleep and mental health; however, findings regarding regular evening aerobic exercise in young adults are limited. This study aimed to examine changes in sleep quality, depressive symptoms and sleep–wake preferences among university students participating in an eight-week evening aerobic exercise program. Methods: This quasi-experimental study included 51 university students who were assessed before and after an eight-week intervention. Participants engaged in 60 min of aerobic exercise three days a week in the evening (between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM). Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), depressive symptoms using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and morning–evening type using the Morning–Evening Questionnaire (MEQ). Results: At the end of the eight-week period, a significant improvement was observed in total PSQI scores; significant changes were also noted in the subscales of sleep onset latency, habitual sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, and daytime dysfunction (p < 0.05). A significant decrease was observed in BDI scores (median: from 17 to 9; p < 0.001), and the proportion of students with moderate-to-severe depressive symptoms decreased. A significant increase was also observed in MEQ scores (p < 0.001), which was found to be consistent with a shift toward an earlier sleep–wake preference. Conclusions: While these findings suggest that an eight-week evening aerobic exercise program may offer potential benefits in improving sleep quality and reducing depressive symptoms among university students, it is thought that changes in sleep–wake preferences may reflect short-term behavioral adaptation.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the quality and reliability of YouTube videos focused on physical activity for children with autism spectrum disorder.Method: Two independent raters assessed a total of 95 YouTube videos retrieved using the keywords 'physical activity for autism' using the Modified DISCERN tool and the Global Quality Scale (GQS). Inter-rater agreement was evaluated using the Kappa statistic, and the distribution of the data was examined using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test and other appropriate non-parametric analyses. Results: Substantial inter-rater agreement was observed (κDISCERN = 0.814; κGQS = 0.808). The mean GQS and Modified DISCERN scores were 2.43 ± 1.13 and 1.46 ± 1.26, respectively. Videos created by healthcare professionals and autism-specific organisations had significantly higher quality scores (p
