Dr Joaquín R. Domínguez has a degree (1996) and a PhD (2000) in Chemistry from the University of Extremadura, Spain, both of them with honours, and he received the research excellence prize from the university in 2001. In the period 1997–2000, he held a MEC FPU Predoctoral Fellowship with a predoctoral stay (2000) at the "Instituto Superior Tecnico", Lisbon (Portugal).
In 2001, he gained a position as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Extremadura. In December 2007, he became an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemical Physics, University of Extremadura (Spain, UE) and from February of 2023 is Full Professor in this Department.
Professor Dominguez has completed four periods of six-year research, five directed doctoral theses (from January 2009), 2495 total citations, and average citations/year=200 during the last 5 years. He has a total number of 83 publications (62 in the first quartile Q1), and an h-index=33.
