Biography

I am a Brazilian biologist with a Ph.D. in Botany and extensive experience in the ecology and conservation of tropical ecosystems. My work focuses on applied ecology, particularly landscape ecology, community ecology, and ecological restoration. I study the effects of land-use change, habitat loss, and fragmentation on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in tropical forests. I investigate how landscape composition and configuration shape species diversity, forest structure, and ecological processes across local to landscape scales, especially in human-modified environments. I also develop approaches for ecological restoration and sustainable forest management, aiming to mitigate the impacts of fragmentation, enhance natural regeneration, and support biodiversity conservation and carbon storage in tropical landscapes, particularly in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
