Vanni Nardino received his Master's degree in Physics from the University of Florence, Italy, in 2004, with a thesis focused on Monte Carlo simulations applied to atmospheric radiative transfer. He subsequently worked on radiative transfer modeling in the Earth’s atmosphere, developing algorithms for satellite data processing, ground irradiance estimation, and sensor calibration. He earned a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2010, with a dissertation titled "A Method for Atmosphere Characterization Using Mesoscale Models, Satellite Data, and Ground Measurements," which focused on estimating UV and visible ground irradiance from satellite imagery. He is currently a researcher at the “Nello Carrara” Institute of Applied Physics (IFAC), part of the National Research Council (CNR), in Florence, Italy. His research interests include optical system design, sensor calibration and validation procedures, multispectral and hyperspectral sensors for airborne applications, radiative transfer modeling, and remote sensing image analysis.
