Photovoltaic (PV) power generation is a form of clean, renewable, and distributed energy that has become a hot topic in the global energy field. Compared to terrestrial solar PV systems, floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems have gained great interest due to their advantages in conserving land resources, optimizing light utilization, and slowing water evaporation. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in the research and application of FPV systems. First, the main components of FPV systems and their advantages as well as disadvantages are analyzed in detail. Furthermore, the research and practical applications of offshore FPV systems, including rigid floating structures and flexible floating structures, are discussed. Finally, the challenges of offshore FPV systems are analyzed in terms of their stability and economic performance. By summarizing current research on FPV systems, this overview aims to serve as a valuable resource for the development of offshore FPV systems.
This paper presents a damage identification method for offshore jacket platforms using partially measured modal results and based on artificial intelligence neural networks. Damage identification indices are first proposed combining information of six modal results and natural frequencies. Then, finite element models are established, and damages in structural members are assumed by reducing the structural elastic modulus. From the finite element analysis for a training sample, both the damage identification indices and the damages are obtained, and neural networks are trained. These trained networks are further tested and used for damage prediction of structural members. The calculation results show that the proposed method is quite accurate. As the considered measurement points of the jacket platform are near the waterline, the prediction errors keep below 8% when the damaged members are close to the waterline, but may rise to 16.5% when the damaged members are located in deeper waters.
When simulating cohesive cracks in the XFEM framework, specific enrichment schemes are designed for the non-singular near-tip field and an iteration procedure is used to solve the nonlinearity problem. This paper focuses on convergence and accuracy analysis of XFEM enrichment schemes for cohesive cracks. Four different kinds of enrichment schemes were manufactured based on the development of XFEM. A double-cantilever beam specimen under an opening load was simulated by Matlab programming, assuming both linear and exponential constitutive models. The displacement and load factors were solved simultaneously by the Newton–Raphson iterative procedure. Finally, based on a linear or an exponential constitutive law, the influences of variations in these enrichment schemes, including (i) specialized tip branch functions and (ii) corrected approximations for blending elements, were determined and some conclusions were drawn.
