Luis A. Salazar received a doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of São Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was a Postdoc in Applied Molecular Biology at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He is currently a Professor at the University of La Frontera, Temuco, Chile. He has participated as principal investigator, coinvestigator, and tutor in more than 70 research projects with different sources of funding (FONDECYT, Millennium Initiative, FONIS, FONDEF, INNOVA-CORFO, BPST-CONICYT, FAPESP, CNPq, FAPESP-UFRO, and others) in the area of biotechnology. In the last 10 years, he has received over 60 awards for scientific and academic merit and presented over 500 conference papers, of which more than 300 are from international conferences. He is the author of over 200 publications in mainstream journals, an evaluator of research projects, and a reviewer of various scientific journals.
