Mario Covarrubias Rodriguez is a Professor at the Politecnico di Milano, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Head of the Virtual Prototyping and Augmented Reality Lab at the Lecco Campus. His research focuses on Extended Reality (XR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Human–Computer Interaction, Digital Twins, and immersive technologies for industry, healthcare, sports, and inclusive education. He leads interdisciplinary research and innovation projects in collaboration with international universities, research centers, and industry partners. His work has resulted in numerous scientific publications and the development of AI-powered XR systems that enhance learning, accessibility, rehabilitation, and user experience. Prof. Covarrubias is particularly recognized for promoting the use of immersive technologies to foster social inclusion and improve quality of life for people with disabilities. He regularly teaches and delivers executive training courses on Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Digital Innovation for students, professionals, and industry leaders.
