Carlos Alberto Bernal Rodríguez is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universidad de Cartagena, Colombia, where he has taught for nine years. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and is a licensed pharmacist-chemist (Químico Farmacéutico). With over a decade of teaching and research experience, he specializes in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food technology. His research focuses on drug design and development, biopharmaceutical and phytotherapeutic products, novel excipients, modified-release delivery systems, bioproducts, and cosmetic formulations with natural ingredients. He coordinates the Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at his institution and is a member of the GITFCA research group (Grupo de Investigación en Tecnología Farmacéutica, Cosmética y de Alimentos). Dr. Bernal currently directs the Bioeconomy Projects and teaches undergraduate courses in pharmaceutical technology. His work addresses the gap between conventional formulation approaches and the growing demand for efficacious, stable delivery systems informed by biomolecular compatibility and sustainable sourcing.
