Prof. Dr. Giovanni Damiani is a Dermatologist who strongly believes in the idea of the “Physician Scientist” that combines clinical evidence and research to solve challenging cases. His efforts are focused on cutaneous immune-mediated diseases (i.e., psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and atopic dermatitis). He is an Assistant Professor in Dermatology at the University of Milan following his first American Postdoc in Dermato-Immunology (2018–2020) at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and his second one in “Immunology of Oral diseases” (2020–2022) at the University of Milan. He specialized in Dermatology and Venereology at the University of Milan in 2019 with a thesis titled “The metabolomic signature of non-lesional psoriatic skin: an advanced approach with artificial neural networks”. In 2013, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Brescia with a thesis titled “Physio-pathological and clinical relevance of fraction of nitric oxide in psoriatic patients”. In December 2016, he founded and actually directed the Young Dermatologists Italian Network (YDIN) in the context of the Italian Group for Epidemiologic Research in Dermatology (GISED) under the supervision of Prof. Luigi Naldi. This group was born with the idea to connect young researchers with senior ones in order to promote the scientific method and evidence-based medicine.
