Biography

Dr. Vincenzo Baglio is a senior researcher at CNR–Institute of Advanced Technology for Energy “Nicola Giordano” of Messina, Italy. He obtained a B.Sc. degree in chemistry (1998) from the University of Messina and a PhD in “Materials for Environment and Energy” (2005) from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. His current research is focused on energy conversion and storage, in particular in the field of fuel cells, batteries, and electrolysers. The activity concerns the development of catalysts and electrodes for solid polymer electrolyte direct methanol fuel cells, electrolysers, and metal-air batteries, as their physical-chemical and electrochemical characterization. He is involved in various research programs related to the development of low-temperature fuel cells, PEM electrolysers, and batteries. He published more than 150 articles in international journals, eight book chapters, one book. He is the inventor of one international patent, and he had about 200 contributions in national and international conferences (eight invited lectures). He is a reviewer for several international scientific journals. He was a member of the organizing or scientific committee of various conferences. He was the Italian coordinator of a scientific cooperation program between CNR (Italy) and CSIC (Spain). He was responsible for CNR-ITAE in the FP7 Collaborative Project No. 314159, “New Concept of Metal-Air Battery for Automotive Application based on Advanced Nanomaterials (NECOBAUT)”.
