Biography

Prof. Gabriella Misso, PhD, is an Associate Professor in Biochemistry at the Department of Precision Medicine of the University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli” in Naples (Italy) from 2019. In 2011, she obtained a PhD in “Cellular Biochemistry”. She is the author of more than 70 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. She has long-lasting experience in the study of cancer biology and in the optimization of therapeutic intervention by non-coding RNAs, as both targets and molecular markers. Her studies are mainly focused on the molecular and genetic alterations occurring in several cancers, the molecular mechanisms underlying the apoptosis and the molecular pathways mediating the escape from programmed cell death, cancer treatment through nanotech-derived carriers as a delivery strategy, and circulating biomarkers' identification for both diagnostic and prognostic purposes. Furthermore, Prof. Misso has collaborated in the advance of several trials in clinical onco-immunology. In the last ten years, Prof. Misso has developed a research line aimed at proposing definite miRNAs as therapeutic tools and prognostic biomarkers in human cancers. Her findings in this field have provided new insights into the characterization of miRNAs' role in interfering with the principal mediators of cell survival and proliferation.
