Dr. Sun Daming

Biography

Dr. Daming Sun is an Associate Professor at Nanjing Agricultural University, China. He received his Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from Nanjing Agricultural University in 2022 and completed postdoctoral training in Pharmacology at China Pharmaceutical University from 2022 to 2025. Dr. Sun's research integrates animal nutrition, gut microbiology, and host–microbe interactions, with a particular focus on microbiota-derived metabolites and their roles in gastrointestinal development, immune regulation, and metabolic diseases. His early research centered on rumen development and nutritional programming in young ruminants, where he investigated how dietary interventions and microbial metabolites influence rumen epithelial growth, gastrointestinal maturation, and digestive adaptation. His work contributed to the identification of novel microbiome-derived metabolites that promote rumen development and provided mechanistic insights into the molecular regulation of gastrointestinal tissue growth and function. Building upon this foundation, Dr. Sun expanded his research to explore the roles of gut microbial metabolism in human and animal health. His research has generated important insights into gut microbiota metabolism, host–microbe interactions, and gastrointestinal development. Related findings have been published in leading international journals, including Gut Microbes, Genome Biology, Pharmacological Research, Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, and Zoological Research.
