Dr. Guilllaume J Bilodeau is a Research Scientist at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in the Ottawa Plant Laboratory (OPL) on Fallowfield. He completed his PhD studies at Laval University. In addition, he is in charge of the Pathogen Identification Research Laboratory (PIRL), focusing on the research and development of detection tools using genomics for plant pathogens and supporting the OPL diagnostic section through research and technology transfer. His focus lies in the planning, organising, coordinating, and conducting of research and in the development of technologies for the detection and identification of plant pests (fungi and oomycetes) of importance in regulation. PIRL has experience with molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, isothermal amplification, sample preparation, microfluidics, genomics, and metagenomics.
