Modeling virtual garments is known as a very laborious process, which includes designing 2D patterns, positioning, and sewing them in 3D, performing a physically-based simulation, and then iteratively adjusting patterns and parameters, repeating the process until the expected effect is achieved. The aim of this paper is to make a 2D pattern and 3D simulation of a men's shirt. First, the computer construction of the men's shirt model was made on a sketch-based, i.e. a 2D pattern is developed. Secondly, 2D pattern is developed by flattening 3D surface patches, then a 3D fine garment is formed directly based on the information of sewing relations and correspondence between 3D surfaces and 2D patterns. The method is able to design 3D garments and 2D patterns efficiently and accurately.

In this work, the quality of four plain single jersey weft-knitted fabrics (produced from the same flax yarn) having different structural characteristics (stitch density, weight, and thickness) before and after pilling, was examined. The quality of knitted fabrics was evaluated in terms of their compression (compressibility, thickness loss, and compressive resilience), comfort (air permeability and water retention), and strength (bursting strength and ball traverse elongation) properties. The obtained results revealed that the fabric with the lowest structural characteristic values has the highest compressibility, thickness loss, and air permeability, while the least compressive resilience, water retention, bursting strength, and ball traverse elongation, both before and after pilling. Pilling causes a decrease of compressibility, thickness loss, air permeability, water retention (for three lightweight fabrics), bursting strength, and ball traverse elongation but an increase in compressive resilience and water retention (for the most compact fabric). All studied knitted fabrics have excellent quality before pilling and excellent to good quality after pilling. A pilling leads to a decrease in the quality of all fabrics, especially of those with the least compact structure. Sample with moderate compactness possesses the best overall quality.

Fit is one of the major concerns for the clothing industry, and pattern development process is significant during clothing manufacturing and the way clothing is constructed. Various pattern making methods have been introduced to the industry considering clothing fit satisfaction, but it is still impossible to provide the optimized clothing pattern for mass production. The aim of this paper is practical implications about 3D virtual fit simulation technology as a fit assessment tool in the fashion industry i.e. to predict the behavior of women's pants in relation to fitting and comfort in different poses of avatar. This was done by application CAD Clo 3D fashion design software.
The paper investigates the effect of the sewing speed and fabric thickness on the sewing thread tension and presser foot displacement. Data collection devices were developed for the acquisition information regarding the thread tension and presser foot displacement during the stitch formation. A software program was created to provide on-line information and data analysis. It was shown that the increase of the fabric thickness and the increase of the sewing speed increase the sewing thread tension. The difference is most expressed at the point of the thread take-up lever highest position in the stitch forming cycle. The increase of the sewing speed and fabric thickness increases the maximum presser foot height. There is a difference in the presser foot displacement shape and timing between the lower and the higher sewing speed.
