The era of “digital literacy” raises the question of whether the meaning of reading interest may have changed. This study examined psycho-behavioral dimensions of reading interest as these relate to different reading modes and different purposes of reading. Findings show that reading interest is best represented by its subcomponents of psycho-behavioral dimensions. Higher-order factor structures indicate a general factor of reading interest at the third-order level and five second-order factors representing reading in print settings, online reading, social media reading, academic reading, and recreational reading. We conclude with implications for future research on the psychological meaning of reading.

The new curriculum (2013 curriculum) encourages implementing the higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) approach in learning Islamic religious education in each academic unit in Indonesia. This paper intends to study the HOTS implementation trend in the learning process of Islamic religious education in Madrasas and schools. The method in this study is a systematic literature review. Researchers found that this trend began to emerge after implementing the 2013 curriculum by the Indonesian Government, where the curriculum used a scientific approach. Teachers, educators, and experts' efforts in implementing HOTS in Islamic Education learning can be grouped into two categories. The first is that they innovate the HOTS-based learning process, and the second is those who develop HOTS-based assessment instruments. Several innovations in the learning process were carried out by applying various learning methods, models, and strategies. The application of HOTS-based learning in Islamic Education learning can improve learning quality to be more effective, efficient, fun, and meaningful. This improvement, then, has an impact on increasing the quality of learning achievement. This study provides highlights and helps to understand the results of previous studies that discuss HOTS using systematic reviews in the implementation of Islamic Religious Education in Madrasas and Schools.

Notwithstanding the increase in research on artificial intelligence-infused English language learning, several issues remain inadequately addressed. Thus, this paper provides a systematic review and analyzes previous studies to pinpoint fruitful knowledge gaps and outline approaches for future research directions. Two approaches, bibliometric and descriptive content analysis, were employed in this study. Firstly, we extracted data for bibliometric analysis from the Scopus database, covering publications from 1996 to 2024. The findings show that the topic peaked in 2024, with 107 articles published. China was the most cited country, with 1.215 citations, and the most productive country, with 327 articles. The International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning published the majority of the articles. The research theme evolved to emphasize English learning and student involvement through mobile learning. We applied descriptive content analysis to selected papers published between 2014 and 2024. Theoretically, the findings suggest that addressing knowledge gaps can enhance the integration of artificial intelligence in English language learning. Empirically, the mixed studies used descriptive statistics collected through observation and questionnaires, with a medium sample size selected through random sampling, a commonly used research design. These approaches can potentially expand the scholarly literature on this subject.

This study examines students’ attitudes toward the Learning Management System (hereafter LMS) CANVAS in the Virtual Learning Environment (henceforth VLE). This study used mixed methods in nature, which used a survey to collect data on the attitudes of 118 EFL students who enrolled in the Technology Enhanced Language Learning (hereafter TELL) course. Researchers gathered data through a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews to assess students’ attitudes using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The survey results were analyzed using descriptive statistics to investigate the quantitative data, while thematic analysis was used to study the qualitative data obtained from interviews. The survey results were analyzed using descriptive statistics to investigate the quantitative data, while thematic analysis was used to study the qualitative data obtained from interviews. Based on the research findings, the TAM framework identifies two main categories: Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use. The Perceive Usefulness category comprises four categories: CANVAS Engagement Time, CANVAS Enhances Interaction, Learning Efficacy, and Effective Communication, CANVAS Enhances Language Learning, and CANVAS Boosting Students’ Confidence and Motivation in a Fun Way. In addition, the Perceive Ease of Use category comprises three categories: CANVAS Usability in Mobile Learning Environments, CANVAS User-Friendly Design, and CANVAS Seamless Navigation and Accessibility.
