Senol Bekmez, MD is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and senior scientist at Baylor College of Medicine, practicing at Texas Children's Hospital, Houston, USA. He received his medical degree and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Turkey, followed by a Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), University of Toronto, Canada. Before joining Baylor College of Medicine, he served as Professor and Head of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Unit at Ankara Bilkent Children's Hospital. His clinical and research interests include pediatric hip disorders, developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), pediatric trauma, lower extremity reconstruction, cerebral palsy, and neuromuscular disorders. He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters and has presented his work at leading international orthopedic meetings. Dr. Bekmez served on the Board of Directors of the Turkish Pediatric Orthopaedic Society and is an active member of EPOS, the Turkish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, the Turkish Spine Society, and the Turkish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Training Council. He completed the prestigious EPOS to POSNA travelling fellowship in 2023.
