This study aimed to identify, characterize, and map the important attributes of the top 100 most cited papers on BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. The scientific literature on BRCA1 and BRCA2 was searched in the Web of Science Core Collection database using the keywords “BRCA1” OR “BRCA2” (Title). The top 100 most cited papers were selected based on citations. The obtained data were exported into HistCiteTM, RStudio, and VOSviewer software for prerequisite analysis. The top 100 most cited papers on BRCA1 and BRCA2 were authored by 932 authors from 24 countries and published in 27 journals. These papers were cited 79,713 times, ranging from 441 to 4671 citations. The highly cited paper was cited 4671 times and published in Science (1994). The leading author, journal, publication year, institution, and country were Easton DF (n = 16), Nature Genetics (n = 11), 2002 (n = 11), University of Pennsylvania (n = 17), and the USA (n = 76), respectively. The results show that all the top 100 papers were produced in developed countries. The collaboration index among the authors was 9.49. The most frequently appeared keywords were ovarian-cancer, breast-cancer, mutations, gene, and familial breast. In recent times, the trend topics were patients, mutations, carriers, ovarian, and risk.

Aim: The basic aim of this analysis was to evaluate the 100 most cited publications in aging research. Methods: On January 17, 2021 Web of Science Core Collection database was searched for aging research publications. The studied parameter includes; publication year, authorship, publication type, keywords, journal name, institution, country, and visualization mapping. HistCiteTM application for citation analysis and VOSviewer software was used for visualization mapping. Results: The top 100 most cited papers were published in 52 journals, authored by 537 authors. The most cited paper was “The diagnosis of dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease: Recommendations from the National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer’s Association workgroups on diagnostic guidelines for Alzheimer’s disease,” which received 6039 citations (2013 average citations per year). Nature was the most attractive journal (n=13). Aging was the most dominant used keyword. The maximum number of papers were published in 2005 (n=8). Harvard University was the leading institute (n=13), while the United States of America (USA) was the most productive country (n=76). Conclusion: The highly cited papers were published in developed countries, and no study was published in low-income countries.

The longevity phenomenon is entirely controlled by the insulin signaling pathway (IIS-pathway). Both vertebrates and invertebrates have IIS-pathways that are comparable to one another, though no one has previously described de novo transcriptome assembly of IIS-pathway-associated genes in termites. In this research, we analyzed the transcriptomes of both reproductive (primary kings “PK” and queens “PQ”, secondary worker reproductive kings “SWRK” and queens “SWRQ”) and non-reproductive (male “WM” and female “WF” workers) castes of the subterranean termite Reticulitermes chinensis. The goal was to identify the genes responsible for longevity in the reproductive and non-reproductive castes. Through transcriptome analysis, we annotated 103,589,264 sequence reads and 184,436 (7G) unigenes were assembled, GC performance was measured at 43.02%, and 64,046 sequences were reported as CDs sequences. Of which 35 IIS-pathway-associated genes were identified, among 35 genes, we focused on the phosphoinositide-dependent kinase-1 (Pdk1), protein kinase B2 (akt2-a), tuberous sclerosis-2 (Tsc2), mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (EIF4E) and ribosomal protein S6 (RPS6) genes. Previously these genes (Pdk1, akt2-a, mTOR, EIF4E, and RPS6) were investigated in various organisms, that regulate physiological effects, growth factors, protein translation, cell survival, proliferation, protein synthesis, cell metabolism and survival, autophagy, fecundity rate, egg size, and follicle number, although the critical reason for longevity is still unclear in the termite castes. However, based on transcriptome profiling, the IIS-pathway-associated genes could prolong the reproductive caste lifespan and health span. Therefore, the transcriptomic shreds of evidence related to IIS-pathway genes provide new insights into the maintenance and relationships between biomolecular homeostasis and remarkable longevity. Finally, we propose a strategy for future research to decrypt the hidden costs associated with termite aging in reproductive and non-reproductive castes.

Anthocyanins compounds, including cyanidin, malvidin, pelargonidin, peonidin, and petunidin, have demonstrated remarkable anti-aging and insulin-sensitizing properties through their interactions with proteins associated with the insulin/insulin-like growth factor signaling (IIS) pathway in Reticulitermes chinensis, employing advanced molecular docking techniques to elucidate strong binding affinities between specific anthocyanins and key proteins such as Pdk1, EIF4E, and Tsc2 in R. chinensis, suggesting a potential mechanism for their anti-aging effects. These findings not only provide critical insights into the therapeutic potential of anthocyanins for mitigating insulin resistance and promoting longevity, but also highlight the efficacy of in silico molecular docking as a predictive tool for small-molecule–protein interactions. Our research opens new avenues for the development of innovative therapeutic strategies targeting age-related diseases. However, further investigations, including a comprehensive chromosomal analysis and in vivo studies, are essential in order to fully elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying these interactions and their physiological implications. The detailed characterization of anthocyanin-binding affinities and their interactions with key regulatory genes presents exciting opportunities for advancement in molecular medicine, pharmacology, and the development of novel nutraceuticals.
