Giovanni Marletta has been full professor of physical chemistry since 1994, currently at the University of Catania. His research interests span from physical chemistry of surfaces and interfaces to biosurfaces, nanotechnology, and a special focus on nanostructured biosurfaces, radiation-surfaces interactions, and surface engineering with particle beams. Currently, G. Marletta is president of the physical chemistry division of the Italian Society of Chemistry (SCI), president of the National Interuniversity Consortium for the Study of Large Interface Systems (CSGI) (2006-present, Italy), member of the Steering Committee of the Division of Physical Chemistry of the European Chemical Division (EuChemS), coordinator of the Laboratory for Molecular Surfaces and Nanotechnology (2002-present, Catania, Italy) and, since 2004, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).
