Biography

Dr. Pintilie obtained the PhD title in 1995, with a study on the pyroelectric bimorph structures, and has worked at the National Institute of Materials Physics since 1987. Since 2001, he has been a Senior Researcher Rank1 (the equivalent of a University Professor). His research interests relate to ferroelectric/multiferroic materials and structures for potential applications in electronics, energy harvesting, and radiation sensing. He made important contributions in studying the complex relationship between polarization charges and the semiconducting properties in perovskite ferroelectrics, showing that the properties of electrode interfaces are controlled by ferroelectric polarization. Currently is a Scientific Director at the National Institute of Materials Physics, Romania, and head of the Complex Heterostructures Group. He conducted many research projects and published over 200 scientific articles.
