Francesca Santilli has been a Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Chieti since 2015. She has also been Head of the Haemostasis and Thrombosis Unit, Center for Advanced Studies and Technology, Chieti since 2017 and Chief of the Diabetes Clinic in Chieti University Hospital. Her main topics of interest involve preventive cardiology and diabetes mellitus and its complications. She is co-author of more than 140 original articles and book chapters. She has long-term expertise in the pathophysiology of atherothrombosis, in the context of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Her scientific production encompasses pathophysiological and clinical pharmacology studies addressing interindividual variability in low-dose aspirin response, its determinants and therapeutic strategies. Her know-how includes in vivo biochemical evaluation of thromboxane metabolite excretion as well as isoprostane formation, and characterization of platelet proteins.
