María Luisa Marina has been a full-time Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Alcalá (UAH) since 2004 and is the head of the (Micro)-Separation Techniques Research Group. She defended her Ph.D. thesis in 1985 (UAH), obtaining the maximum mark and the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher in 1986 at INSTN (Saclay, France) and an Associate Professor at UAH in 1987. Her research activity focused on the development of innovative analytical methodologies for the determination of compounds of interest in the pharmaceutical, food, environmental, and bioanalytical fields, including the enantiomeric separation of chiral compounds, development of metabolomics strategies, and the obtainment of bioactive substances from food by-products/residues, fostering the sustainability of processes. She has co-authored 38 book chapters and 320 research articles (JCR). She is President of the Specialized Group “(Bio)Analytical Science and Technologies” from the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) and received the “Excellence Research Award” from UAH in 2020.
