Biography

Audrey Battimelli, Research engineer at the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) since 2001. Leader of the Bio2E research facility https://eng-bio2e.isc.inrae.fr. Chemical engineer, graduated in 2000 from INSA Toulouse (National Institute of Applied Sciences), with a specialization in environmental technologies and biological and physicochemical processes. PhD in Process Engineering (2009): “Potential of a process combining ozonation and biodegradation: application to the treatment of colored, biorefractory COD from agri-food wastewater.” Research activities focus on the application of physicochemical pretreatments (ozonation, thermochemical treatment, ultrasound, coagulation–flocculation) to enhance biological treatment processes. Research is conducted on various biorefractory and slowly biodegradable substrates, such as waste activated sludge, slaughterhouse waste, and molasses wastewater, in collaboration with industrial partners.
