This paper summarizes the technical endeavors undertaken by the Task Force (TF) on Cyber-Physical Interdependence for Power System Operation and Control. The TF was established to investigate the cyber-physical interdependence of critical power system elements and their influence on the operation and control of energy systems. State-of-the-art analysis techniques, including co-simulation and digital twin technologies, are employed to address various layers of interdependence between cyber and physical systems, facilitating the identification of potential threats and vulnerabilities. The paper examines prospective trajectories for resilient cyber-physical systems and outlines the educational and workforce training imperatives for addressing cybersecurity threats in contemporary power systems. Furthermore, concluding remarks and future recommendations are provided to mitigate the inherent vulnerabilities within the extensively interoperable grid infrastructure.

With the deployment and commercial application of 5G, researchers start to think of 6G, which could meet more diversified and deeper intelligent communication requirements. In this paper, a four physical elements, i.e., man, machine, object, and genie, featured 6G concept is introduced. Genie is explained as a new element toward 6G. This paper focuses on the genie realization as an intelligent wireless transmission toward 6G, including sematic information theory, end-to-end artificial intelligence (AI) joint transceiver design, intelligent wireless transmission block design, and user-centric intelligent access. A comprehensive state-of-the-art of each key technology is presented and main questions as well as some novel suggestions are given. Genie will work comprehensively in 6G wireless communication and other major industrial vertical, while its realization is concrete and step by step. It is realized that genie-based wireless communication link works with high intelligence and performs better than that controlled manually.

Most existing studies on probabilistic frequency stability analysis ignore the dynamics of wind power generations (WPGs) and thus result in inaccurate analysis results especially when the fast frequency response of WPGs is expected. This paper proposes a method of probabilistic frequency stability analysis that considers the dynamics of WPGs with different control strategies. Firstly, a multi-interval sensitivity (MIS) method is proposed to simulate the frequency response, thereby significantly saving the simulation time. Then, a multi-element low-rank approximation (MELRA) uncertainty propagation analysis method suitable for large-scale uncertainty analysis is proposed. And the introduction of multi-element effectively improves the accuracy. In addition, by applying the Gaussian mixture model (GMM), the limitations of moment-based uncertainty propagation analysis methods are discussed, demonstrating the comparative superiority of the proposed method. Also, the necessity of considering the dynamics of WPGs in frequency stability analysis is revealed by analyzing the differences of frequency response with and without dynamics of WPGs using different control strategies. The performance of the proposed method is verified on the IEEE 68-bus system and the provincial large-scale power system.

Recently, the grounding system of substation has been seriously invaded by earth current generated by flourishing urban rail transit network. The invasion leads to abnormal vibration of transformer and even some electrical safety problems. This article presents a dc and harmonic current suppression system (DHSS) applied to the neutral point of transformer. The design and development of the DHSS are described in detail. The power circuit is designed as a segmented structure with dc current blocking and harmonic current suppression. The high-speed bypass protection circuit is implemented to ensure the reliable grounding of neutral point in any case. The matching control and protection system is developed. The proposed controller for suppressing harmonic current is applicable for the neutral point and meets the requirements of relay protection. The design details and difficulties are discussed. The development, commissioning, and experiment are completed in the laboratory. The developed prototype has been subjected to high current impulse tests. The performance and reliability are verified by the presented results. This prototype is running on-site in a 220 kV substation.

Most existing cyber-attacks are steady state-oriented attacks, not dynamic ones. Moreover, dynamic modal interaction between cyber layers and physical layers is not considered in current studies. This paper firstly proposes a novel modal resonance-oriented cyber-attack (MROCA) against wide-area damping control (WADC). MROCA, as a dynamic cyber-attack, analyzes the signal sent to WADC in the cyber layer and then estimates the critical oscillation mode of the physical layer without acquiring the system parameters. Then MROCA is designed to stimulate the open-loop modal resonance between the virtual oscillation mode of MROCA and the critical mode of the physical layer, thereby degrading the stability of cyber-physical power systems (CPPSs). Furthermore, the connection between MROCA and typical cyber-attacks is investigated, and the impact of MROCA on the stability of CPPSs is quantified by the modal movement with respect to the parameters of MROCA. Additionally, the corresponding defense strategy is proposed to inject the signal corresponding to the reverse mode of MROCA, thereby offsetting the negative impact of attacks. Finally, the proposed work is tested in the IEEE 39-bus benchmark system and the practical provincial power system. Simulation results indicate that the proposed MROCA will excite the open-loop modal resonance and reduce the stability of CPPS. The proposed defense strategy can accurately estimate the injected mode signal and ensure system stability when the system is attacked by MROCA.
