Dr. Amber Jennings now leads a research team at the University of Memphis, with projects directed at the delivery of antimicrobial and anti-biofilm therapeutics for musculoskeletal trauma and orthopedic implants. She received her B.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Alabama in 1999. She conducted her graduate studies in the field of wound healing under the mentorship of Dale Feldman, Ph.D. at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, receiving her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2007. She conducted post-doctoral studies at the University of Memphis in the laboratories of Warren Haggard, Ph.D., from 2007 to 2009, studying local delivery of antimicrobials from biopolymer implants. Her research foci are divided into three major thrusts: biofilm inhibitors and dispersal agents, biopolymer drug delivery systems, and smart biomaterials.
