Solène L. Antoine is a geophysicist whose research investigates how earthquakes rupture the Earth’s crust, deform the ground surface, and interact with complex fault systems. She works at the intersection of active tectonics, earthquake physics, earthquake geology, and remote sensing. Her research combines satellite optical observations, field data, and models to better understand the physical processes governing continental earthquakes. She specializes in sub-pixel image correlation methods, which detects ground displacement by comparing optical images acquired before and after that ground surface displacement occurred. Beyond earthquake science, she applies optical remote sensing to other natural hazards, including landslides and post-disaster damage mapping.
