Gennadi Milinevsky received Ph.D. in geophysics in 1980, a Doctor of Science degree in Geophysics (2001), and Professor degree in Physics and Astronomy (2021) at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. He is currently working as Professor at the College of Physics, Jilin University, International Center Future Science, Changchun, China. He worked as Principal Scientist of the Atmosphere Optics Department in the Main Astronomical Observatory, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2014-ongoing, part-time position), and as Principal Scientist and Adviser of the National Antarctic Scientific Center of Ukraine (2006-ongoing, part time position). He worked as Base Commander and Geophysicist (upper atmosphere, ozone) in the First Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition winter-over to the Vernadsky Station, Antarctica (1996–1997). My research topics mainly include atmospheric research, stratosphere, tropopause, ozone layer and ozone depletion processes study, various technique used for atmospheric research, climate change processes, and their impact on the ecosystem. He is a Member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) since 1990 and the European Geoscience Union (EGU) since 2012. He received the Fedorov Award from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2021 and the Medals "For Service" II Stage and III Stage from the Government of Ukraine for Polar research in 2016 and 1998.

Atmospheric aerosols over Ukraine studied by combining ground-based measurements and satellite data
U.S. Civilian Research & Development CRDF Cooperative Grants Program, Award Number: UKG2-2969-KV-09
New data on aerosol distribution and properties in the atmosphere over different locations in Ukraine have been collected and uploaded to the AERONET and project databases. These data were obtained at new AERONET sites (Lugansk, Kyiv-AO) established in Ukraine in the framework of the project. The analysis of aerosol properties has been provided and published/submitted in peer-review journals. Some of the project components have been incorporated into a new concept of the Ukrainian satellite aero
