Isabel Mafra is a Principal Researcher at the Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde (LAQV) - Universidty of Porto. She earned a B.Sc. in Food Engineering from the Portuguese Catholic University, a M.Sc. in Biological Engineering from the University of Minho and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Aveiro.  She is an expert in food quality and safety, more specifically in molecular biology (DNA-based methods, including real-time PCR, HRM analysis, sequencing, and nanoplate digital PCR) applied to the assessment of food authenticity, analysis/characterization of food allergens and GMO detection. She has also expertise in the development of chromatographic. spectroscopic methods and immunochemical methods.
