The Covid-19 pandemic has put enormous pressure on the educational system in all its teaching and learning activities, and in the specific case of the practical training of teachers. This study seeks to investigate through qualitative research with a comprehensive interpretive approach, the training of the practicum of Physical Education teachers in Chile, considering the knowledge and experiences, in the context of virtual classrooms during the Covid-19 pandemic. Semi-structured interviews and focus groups were used to collect the data; and were analyzed with the content analysis technique. As result, it can be observed that the students manifest diverse experiences in their practicum process, with difficulties inherent to the remote work condition, such as difficulty in communication with students and school teachers, problems in didactic and evaluation processes, and adaptation to context. It is necessary to discuss the access of students and teachers to technologies, as well as the training of physical education teachers in areas of didactic and assessment in contexts where face-to-face is difficult.

Summary. The aim of this article is to delve into physical education teacher’s training in Chile, from a historical perspective, highlighting current public policies in the processes of Pre-service Teachers Training. From this methodological point of view, this work is qualitative descriptive based on documentary and bibliographic research. Results show that physical education has been present from the begining of teachers’ training in Chile, moving from a technical rationality to models based on pedagogy. As a conclusion, current Physical Education should be oriented towards human development, integrating components from physical activity, sport and health, under the pedagogical and disciplinary standards. At the same time, there are still aspects that must be revised and studied in order to improve teachers’ pre-service processes, within the framework of development proposed by the State for the present decade.

The aim of this work is to provide a current view on initial teacher training in Chilean physical education from a gender perspective, taking as references the participation of students and the development of this perspective in the pedagogical training of future teachers. The study has used the descriptive analysis of secondary data and the analysis of documentary sources, such as databases, institutional reports, theoretical and methodological proposals, and national and international research. The work has identified that in Chile there is a relevant under-representation of women in studies of physical education pedagogy; that gender stereotypes continue to be reproduced; that no actions are identified to incorporate, treat and evaluate the gender perspective in this training, as it is the case with the inclusion of this approach in curricula and that at the research and methodological level, qualitative orientations predominate. Gender studies in the field of initial training of physical education teachers in this country are shown to be an open field of work, both at the level of the object of study and in the theoretical and methodological approaches, being at the same time an area that needs real transference by the academic and political actions identified in the literature.

The article aims to analyze the Curricular Bases (BC) of the Physical Education and Health (EFS) subject in relation to the attention of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). A qualitative descriptive methodology was used that has as a procedure the bibliographic and documentary analysis. The results indicate that the BC are not specifically designed to work with students with SEN since there are no specific guidelines for it, but rather that the focus is on general work with students who do not have difficulty in achieving the objectives and skills established by the national curriculum. It is concluded that the BC are oriented to the homogeneity of the students and that their usefulness does not contribute to the approach of the SAI itself in this group.

The confinement caused by the current health situation has unleashed an increase in sedentary behaviors in childhood, causing uncertainty about the effects that have impacted their child development. The objective of the study was to determine the effects of sedentary behavior on the level of physical activity and development of executive functions in second cycle basic students during the confinement caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodology was descriptive, having a quantitative approach and the data collection was carried out through two questionnaires applied to 41 students in an age range between 10 to 12 years, belonging to educational establishments in the Maule region, Ñuble. and Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins in Chile. The main results indicate that sedentary behaviors influence the level of physical activity as well as the improvement of executive functions, regardless of geographic location, sex or age. It is concluded that it is necessary to promote actions aimed at using more of the free time to practice physical activity, with the intention of breaking sedentary habits and increasing their levels in order to reduce the negative consequences that this type of behavior can bring.
