Born 1966. studied Biology & Chemistry, Molecular Biology and Molecular Biophysics at the University of Zagreb (Croatia), 1997 PhD, 1997-2000 Postdoc at the MPI of Biochemistry, Martinsried, 2001-2005 Habilitation in Biochemistry, Technical University of Munich. Since May 2010 W3 Professor (Biocatalysis) at the Technical University of Berlin at the Institute of Chemistry and from 2018 Professor of Chemistry and holder of the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Chemical Synthetic Biology at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. A pioneer in the field of genetic code engineering and xenobiology, his research also has broad applications in biotechnology and engineering biology in general.
