Information

Malek Karaim holds dual master's degrees and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is an expert in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), and Multi-Sensor Fusion for vehicular navigation technology. Malek has applied various Bayesian estimation, filtering, and modeling techniques, including Kalman and Particle filters, Fast Orthogonal Search (FOS), and Neural Networks, in the context of navigation systems. Recently, he has started exploring the application of artificial intelligence methods in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite-based navigation as an aiding source and an alternative to GNSS. Malek currently serves as the Head of the Scientific Research and Consultation Office at the Faculty of Engineering and is a member of the International Rankings Committee at the University of Zawia, Libya. He is also actively involved as a research associate with the Navigation and Instrumentation (NavINST) group at the Royal Military College (RMC) of Canada and Queen’s University.
