Prof. Ing. Mauro Iacono, PhD. (Eng.), M.Sc. (Eng.) (Phys.), M.A. (Pol.Sc.)(Int.Rel.) is Associate Professor in Information Processing Systems (09/H1, qualified as Full Professor), Director/Administrator of heriVolo, president of the European Council for Modelling and Simulation, Vicepresident of the C3I commission of Ordine Ingegneri di Caserta and member of the scientific committee of Club Atlantico Napoli. Before joining academia, he served as Second Lieutenant (OF-1) in the Italian Air Force, and has been a senior consultant for the Italian Ministry of Innovation and Technology and a freelance consultant and technical instructor. He is licensed to practice as Professional Engineer since 2000. He published $150+$ peer reviewed scientific papers and has served as scientific editor, as chairman and member in $200+$ scientific conference committees and as referee for $30+$ journals. He is senior member of IEEE, EAI Fellow (2024) and member of ACM, ECMS, INSTICC, and other scientific societies. His research is mainly centered on performance modeling of complex computer-based systems, specially on multiformalism modeling techniques, critical and Big Data systems, privacy and explainability. He has taught $80+$ university courses and is a member of the Academic Board of the PhD in Mathematics, Physics and applications of Engineering of his University since 2020/21.
