Biography

Principal Investigator with broad expertise in cell and molecular biology. My research focuses on life-threatening diseases such as cancer and atherosclerosis, and my long-term career goal is to lower the incidence and mortality rates associated with these diseases. I'm particularly interested in metastasis, a process of cancer cell dissemination throughout the body. My research interests include: 1) Cancer metastasis - molecular mechanisms and new targeted therapies; 2) Antitumor immunity - mechanisms of MHC-I loss by cancer cells and subsequent T-cell response; 3) Tumor extracellular matrix - composition, remodeling, and role of cancer-associated fibroblasts; 4) Pathological calcification of vasculature by calcium-phosphate bions during early stages of atherosclerosis. I am an author and co-author of >100 publications including those in top-tier titles such as Nat.Cell.Biol., Nat.Comms, Cancer Discov., Cell Discov., Cancer Research, EMBO Mol. Med., Oncogene, etc. I authored 5 monographs published by Springer, Elsevier and Cold Spring Harbor Lab Press. I served as an ad hoc reviewer for several grant bodies and numerous journals, including top titles such as Cancer Discov, Nat.Comms, Theranostics, Biomaterials. I serve as an associate editor for BMC Cancer, Scientific Reports, Fundamental and Clinical Medicine, and Healthcare of Tajikistan. My research has been cited >4,000 times, with an H-index of 34.
