Information

Dr. Sebastià Galmés has a PhD in Nutrigenomics and Personalized Nutrition from the University of the Balearic Islands and is currently a post-doctoral researcher in the group 'Nutrigenomics, Biomarkers and Risk Evaluation (NuBE)', hired by the Spanish Biomedical Research Centre in Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN). His research focuses on the fields of nutrigenomics—characterizing the impact of specific bioactive compounds and lifestyle aspects on gene expression and its cardiometabolic implications—and nutrigenetics—studying the differential impact of nutrients on health depending on an individual’s genetic background. Since the beginning of his research career, he has been the author or co-author of six articles published in international journals (all of them published in Q1) and more than 20 communications at national and international scientific conferences/meetings. His doctoral thesis, entitled 'Nutrigenetic Study of Obesity in the Population of Mallorca', was based on the analysis of interactions between genetics and nutrition associated with the obesity phenotype and cardiovascular risk in the population of Mallorca. He is also the co-author of the article 'Current State of Evidence: Influence of Nutritional and Nutrigenetic Factors on Immunity in the COVID-19 Pandemic Framework', which highlights the importance of nutrigenetics in the field of COVID-19.
