Dr. Massimo Barberis (MD), graduated in Medicine and specialized in Pathology and Laboratory Management at the University of Milan. Formerly a Fellow at the Institute of Embryology and Normal Histology at the same University and then Assistant Pathologist at the National Cancer Institute of Milan, he became vice director at the Institute of Pathology of the Niguarda Hospital in Milan. He was the Director of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Multimedia Hospitals IRCCS from 1999 to 2007, Director of the Pathology Department at the Ospedali Riuniti in Bergamo from 2007 to January 2010, and Director of the Histopathology and Molecular Diagnostic Unit at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan until the end of 2023. Currently, he is a Senior Consultant of the Division of Advanced Molecular Diagnostics in the same Institution. He projected and started up four Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He is a co-founder of the Molecular Tumor Board of the European Institute of Oncology. His main fields of interest are molecular pathology and personalized medicine.
