Daniela Merlotti is an Assistant Physician at the Department of Internal Medicine of the AOUS, Siena, Italy. She is involved in research in the field of metabolic bone disorders and rare bone diseases and in the pathophysiology of diabetes-related bone disease. She received the Young Investigator Award of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR); the ASBMR Rising Star Award; and the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO)-AMGEN Fellowship Award. She is a member of the Rare Bone Disease Action Group of the European Calcified Tissue Society (ECTS) and a member of the ECTS Academy. She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Society for Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases (SIOMMMS), and she is responsible for the Editorial Board of the SIOMMMS.
