I am a chemical-physicist with a strong skill-set in electrochemical surface science and extensive experience in synchrotron-based spectroscopies. I carried out my PhD research within several national and international project frameworks, at the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Padova (Italy) and at the Department of Physics of the Technische Universität München (TUM, Germany). I performed my post-doctoral research at the Advanced Light Source (ALS) and Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (JCAP) in Berkeley, U.S.A. Now, as staff scientist at HZB my scientific research is focused on understanding fundamental physical/chemical properties of metals/ and semiconducting oxides/liquid electrolyte interfaces for application in solar water splitting and CO2 reduction reaction. In addition, I take care of the technical development of a new endstation at the BESSY II synchrotron facility, where I investigate the aforementioned interfaces with in situ Ambient Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (AP-XPS) and Ambient Pressure X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (AP-XAS).
