Prof. Carmelo De Maria is an Associate Professor of Bioengineering at the Department of Ingegneria dell’Informazione, University of Pisa, and is affiliated with the Research Center “E. Piaggio”. He has been a guest professor in bioengineering at Addis Ababa University and a member of the African Biomedical Engineering Consortium secretariat. His research interests are in the field of additive manufacturing technologies, with a particular focus on biomedical applications, including bioprinting and the prototyping of medical devices. He has several papers published in international scientific journals (over 80) and in 2016 he received his 1st award as a Young Investigator from the International Society for Biofabrication.
