One of the most important goals of seismic stratigraphy studies is to interpret the elements of the seismic facies with respect to the geologic environment. Prestack seismic data carry rich information that can help us get higher resolution and more accurate facies maps. Therefore, it is promising to use prestack seismic data for the seismic facies recognition task. However, because each identified object changes from the poststack trace vectors to a prestack trace matrix, effective feature extraction becomes more challenging. We have developed a novel data-driven offset-temporal feature extraction approach using the deep convolutional autoencoder (DCAE). As an unsupervised deep learning method, DCAE learns nonlinear, discriminant, and invariant features from unlabeled data. Then, seismic facies analysis can be accomplished through the use of conventional classification or clustering techniques (e.g., K-means or self-organizing maps). Using a physical model and field prestack seismic surveys, we comprehensively determine the effectiveness of our scheme. Our results indicate that DCAE provides a much higher resolution than the conventional methods and offers the potential to significantly highlight stratigraphic and depositional information.

Finding communities in multilayer networks is a vital step in understanding the structure and dynamics of these layers, where each layer represents a particular type of relationship between nodes in the natural world. However, most community discovery methods for multilayer networks may ignore the interplay between layers or the unique topological structure in a layer. Moreover, most of them can only detect non-overlapping communities. In this paper, we propose a new community discovery method for multilayer networks, which leverages the interplay between layers and the unique topology in a layer to reveal overlapping communities. Through a comprehensive analysis of edge behaviors within and across layers, we first calculate the similarities for edges from the same layer and the cross layers. Then, by leveraging these similarities, we can construct a dendrogram for the multilayer networks that takes both the unique topological structure and the important interplay into consideration. Finally, by introducing a new community density metric for multilayer networks, we can cut the dendrogram to get the overlapping communities for these layers. By applying our method on both synthetic and real-world datasets, we demonstrate that our method has an accurate performance in discovering overlapping communities in multilayer networks.

Twitter sentiment analysis is an effective tool for various Twitter-based analysis tasks. However, there is still no neural-network-based research which takes both the tweet-text information and user-connection information into account. To this end, we propose the Attentional-graph Neural Network based Twitter Sentiment Analyzer (AGN-TSA), a Twitter sentiment analyzer based on attentional-graph neural networks. AGN-TSA fuses the tweet-text information and the user-connection information through a three-layered neural structure, which includes a word-embedding layer, a user-embedding layer and an attentional graph network layer. For the training of AGN-TSA, dedicated loss functions are designed for the structural controllability of AGN-TSA network. Experiments based on real-world dataset concerning the 2016 presidential election of America exhibit that AGN-TSA is superior under multiple metrics over several prevailing methods, with a performance boost of over 5%. The empirical settings of parameters are given based on extensive rotation experiments.

The multiple relationships among objects in complex systems can be described well by multiplex networks, which contain rich information of the connections between objects. The null model of networks, which can be used to quantify the specific nature of a network, is a powerful tool for analysing the structural characteristics of complex systems. However, the null model for multiplex networks remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we propose a null model for multiplex networks based on the node redundancy degree, which is a natural measure for describing the multiple relationships in multiplex networks. Based on this model, we define the modularity of multiplex networks to study the community structures in multiplex networks and demonstrate our theory in practice through community detection in four real-world networks. The results show that our model can reveal the community structures in multiplex networks and indicate that our null model is a useful approach for providing new insights into the specific nature of multiplex networks, which are difficult to quantify.

The rapid and accurate detection of network traffic anomaly is one of the preconditions to guarantee the effective work of the network. Aiming at the deficiency of present methods of network traffic anomaly detection, we propose a scale-adaptive method based on wavelet packet. By means of wavelet packet decomposition, our method can adjust the decomposition process adaptively, has the same detective ability to the anomaly of various frequency, especially the middle and high frequency ones which can not be checked out by the multi-resolution analysis. By means of adaptive reconstruction of the wavelet packet coefficient of different wavelet domains which anomaly, our method is able to confirm the characteristics of anomaly and enhance the reliability of detection. The simulation results prove that the method can detect the network traffic anomaly efficiently
