Broadly, animal and plant health is the focus of my research. My overarching research objective is to develop strategies and optimise new technologies to improve plant and animal health, for example, using medicinal plant extracts with antifungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-parasitic activities, and arthropod-pathogenic fungi with pest control potential and carrying out agroecological studies. I obtained my PhD in the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, the University of Pretoria, South Africa. My doctoral research was conducted in collaboration with the International Centre of Insect Physiology (ICIPE), Kenya. I later joined the University of Cape Town as a postdoctoral fellow in 2009. I am an Associate Professor and Research Scientist at Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa.
