Lígia Rodrigues obtained her PhD in 2005 at the University of Minho (UM). She was a post‐doctoral research fellow at UM; University of Porto; and University of Lund (2006-2007). In 2011, she was hired as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biological Engineering (DEB-UM) and was the Head of DEB (2019-2022). Currently, she is an Associate Professor with habilitation at DEB-UM and conducts her research activities at the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB-UM). She is Vice-Dean and President of the Pedagogical Council of the School of Engineering (UM), and Associate Director of the CEB-UM. Since 2010, she has been leading her research group within the field of Synthetic Biology focusing in the construction of biosynthetic pathways and biosensors.
