Zulfiqur is Professor and Director of Healthcare–Innovation Partnerships at Teesside University. He has research interests in novel electrochemical and optical transduction, micro- and nanofabrication, microfluidics, bioprocessing, and point-of-care testing, and has coordinated numerous European Commission (EC) projects. Zulfiqur has a first degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Instrumentation and Analytical Science from the University of Manchester. He has been Assistant Dean for Research and Innovation and Dean of the Graduate Research School, and now has responsibility for the Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC). Zulfiqur is also director of Anasyst Ltd., and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
