Prof. Bambang Kuswandi received his Ph.D. in Instrumentation and Analytical Science from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), Manchester, U.K. in 1999 under supervisor Prof. Dr. R. Narayanaswamy. He also did his MSc degree (1996) in the same department at UMIST, U.K., and his undergraduate in Chemical Education (1993) IKIP Malang (now UM, State University of Malang), Indonesia. He is currently vice-rector for Planning, System Information and Public Relation, head of Chemo and Biosensors Group, and Professor in Analytical Chemistry (2009). He was formerly Head of School of Pharmacy (2003-2009) and Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Jember, Indonesia (2009-2013). He got H-index 26 and 2760 citations (Scopus) for his over 70 papers published in refereed journals and ten international book chapters published by Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, IOP etc. His current research interests are the development of chemical sensors & biosensor for applications in environmental, food, pharmacy, clinical & health monitoring, including smart packaging and sensors for natural product pharmacy. Optical & electrochemical sensors. Molecular recognition, host-guest chemistry, ligand design & synthesis. The use of polymers & other novels/smart materials as solid support, reagent & indicator in sensor development. Lab on a-chip & microfluidics devices. Development of wearable sensing systems and halal science & technology.
