In this article we report the production of metal oxide (TiFe2O4, ZnFe2O4) nanoparticles by pulsed laser ablation technique in a liquid environment. We used nanosecond Nd: YAG laser systems working at 532 nm and 1064 nm of wavelength and the energy of the laser beam was kept constant at 80 mJ. Absorbance spectra, surface plasmon resonance, optical band-gap, and nanoparticle morphology were investigated using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Changing the wavelength of the laser for growth, nanoparticles showed shift between the absorbance and surface plasmon resonance peaks in their UV-Vis spectra, which implies that the optical properties of the colloid nanoparticles depend on laser parameters. This was confirmed with the variation of the band gap energy. Furthermore, redshift for the absorbance peak was observed for samples as-grown at 532 nm around 150 nm as a function of time preparation. Conversely, for the samples as-grown at 1064 nm there was no shift in the absorbance spectra, which could be due to agglomeration and formation of larger particles. The characterization results showed appropriate plasmonic photo-catalysts properties of the particles, hence the photoactivation of the nanoparticles was examined on antibacterial effect using colonies of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

In this work, scattering light by colloidal metal nanoparticles with spherical shape was studied. Optical properties such as diffusion efficiencies of extinction and absorption 𝑄 𝑒𝑥𝑡 and 𝑄 𝑎𝑏𝑠 were calculated using Mie theory. We employed a MATLAB program to calculate the Mie efficiencies and the radial dependence of electric field intensities emitted for colloidal metal nanoparticles (MNPs). By UV-Vis spectroscopy we have determined the LSPR for Cu nanoparticles (CuNPs), Ni nanoparticles (NiNPs) and Co nanoparticles (CoNPs) grown by laser ablation technique. The peaks of resonances appear in 590nm, 384nm and 350nm for CuNPs, NiNPs and CoNPs respectively suspended in water. Changing the medium to acetone and ethanol we observed a shift of the resonance peaks, these values were agree with our simulations results.

Air pollution is a major contributor to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, prompting recent studies to adopt AI models for forecasting pollutant levels. In this work, we introduce a hybrid framework—SSA-LSTM-XGBoost—that applies a residual-correction strategy in four stages: (i) data preprocessing, (ii) training an LSTM network optimised with the Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA), (iii) modelling the residuals with an SSA-optimised XGBoost learner, and (iv) fusing both outputs to obtain the final prediction. The framework is assessed on test and out-of-sample datasets and benchmarked against SVR, BiGRU, random forest, BiLSTM, and GRU. On the test set, SSA-LSTM-XGBoost attains the highest accuracy, recording an R $$^{\varvec{2}}$$ of 0.9554 and the lowest errors (RMSE = 2.5194, MAE = 1.4885, MAPE = 0.0635), amounting to an average error reduction of roughly 8.2% relative to the runner-up SSA-SVR. When validated on unseen data, it remains superior (R $$^{\varvec{2}}$$ = 0.8830, RMSE = 2.4838), achieving an average error decrease of about 3.5% compared with SSA-SVR despite the harsher evaluation conditions. These findings attest to the robustness and strong generalisability of the proposed framework for reliable PM $$_{\varvec{2.5}}$$ forecasting. In practice, such forecasts enable near-real-time hotspot alerts, short-term exposure advisories for vulnerable groups, and preventive traffic or industrial controls, thereby supporting municipal air-quality management and policy decisions in Duitama.

In this work we prepared graphene oxide nanostructures (GONE) in a liquid environment using pulsed laser ablation technique. We used for the synthesis Nd: YAG pulsed laser operatating at 1064 nm and 532 nm of wavelength, we study the effect of wavelength of the laser on the optical properties of Nanostructures (NE) synthesized. The aim was determining the optical bandgap and the characteristic peak related by bond transitions using the absorbance UV-Vis spectra. Both samples show high absorption in the ultraviolet region in the UV-Vis spectra. Using Tauc’s plot method we compute the bandgap energy for GONEs assuming indirect bandgap. In addition, we observe characteristic peak formation 1 hour after synthesized NPs at 256 nm for NPs prepared at 1064 nm and for NPs prepared at 532 nm the peak with less intensity is observed at a wavelength of 218 nm. The characteristic peak for both samples increase of intensity 24 hours after preparation.

In the following paper, we present a nonlinear model of an atomic force microscope considering the potential of Lennard–Jones and the nonlinear friction produced by the squeeze film damping effect, between the cantilever and the sample. Specifically, we study the existence and stability of periodic solutions using the lower and upper solution method in the system without friction. The condition for persistence of the homocline orbit was established by Melnikov method when the model has nonlinear friction. In this sense, the analytic and numerical approach is presented to verify the solutions of the model.
