Dr. Maciej Gawęcki graduated in 1994 from the Medical University of Gdańsk. Between 1994 and 1995, he completed his internship at the Medical University in Gdańsk and then worked as an assistant at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University in Gdańsk until 2022. During that time, he completed his Ph.D. on “Amblyopia without strabismus in clinical practice” and won a scholarship from the European Ophthalmological Society at Moorfields Hospital in London. In 2007, he was appointed the head of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Specialist Hospital in Chojnice and fulfilled these obligations until 2023. Currently, he heads the Department of Ophthalmoilogy of Pomeranian hospitals in Wejherowo. In 2001, he founded his own Ophthalmological Clinic Dobry Wzrok in Gdańsk and continues to serve as its director. Since 2015, he also served as a Regional Consultant for Ophthalmology in the Pomeranian Region of Poland. His main interest is the medical retina, especially the diagnostics and management of central serous chorioretinopathy. He created and shares the use of subthreshold micropulse laser treatment in Poland.
